Oak Barrel Half Marathon Weekend

This weekend was a lot of fun!  James and I took a short little vacation down to Tennessee to meet up with lots of family and James ran his second half marathon.  We drove into Barrington Thursday night and stayed with my parents, then flew down to Nashville Friday morning.  We were able to spend most of the day with my cousin Jill and her daughter (my goddaughter) Avery while we waited for the rest of the gang to get into town.  It was so great to just hang out... with Jill and her family living in Tennessee and us in Iowa it's definitely always too long in between visits!  Special thanks to Jill... she gave me a TON of cute maternity clothes to take home with me!  I'll be styling the rest of my pregnancy!

Saturday morning was the Oak Barrel Half Marathon in Lynchburg, TN.  The runners left early in the morning, and my parents and I got to sleep in a little bit before we drove to Lynchburg.  We had a nice breakfast in the town square and watched them set up the finish line from our table by the window.

Then we took our places by the end of the race and watched all the runners finish!  I was so proud of everyone! 

James and Jill ran the whole race together, and Jill got a new personal record time!  (Aren't they cute with their coordination?)

Lynchburg town square

Lynchburg was a really cute small southern town with a town square, which is where all the finish line food and entertainment was located.  Lynchburg is also where they make Jack Daniel's whiskey!  The finishing medals were even made from whiskey barrels.  We went on a tour of the distillery where everyone was able to meet the master distiller and get their medals signed.  This is master distiller #7 since the beginning of Jack Daniel's whiskey... Jack himself being #1.

That night we hung out with our family at Jill and Dave's house and enjoyed Portillo's beef, a bonfire, and time with family.  The weekend went too fast of course, but it was so much fun!
